Our Culture Mountain Stories

Throw all of this together: the terrain, the snow, our rich history, our fantastic staff and you have a culture that has attracted people here year after year. Skiers and snowboarders from around the world, people from all walks, with the means to go anywhere and do anything, continue to return to Selkirk Wilderness Skiing for memories that resonate long after they leave. This place has become a part of them, and as a result they have become a part of us.

But there’s more. The Kootenays are a place rich in history and landscape. You’re far away from the modern bustle here, deep in mountains that stretch past the horizon in every direction. There’s a long history of working and living in the wilderness steeped environments of this place. Time moves a little slower, the snow falls a little deeper, people are that much friendlier. We like to think we’ve played a big part of that in the Kootenays and all it represents. Living life to the fullest, one perfect, knee-deep, sun-blessed day in the mountains at a time.
