Selkirk Wilderness Skiing 2012 Season Opener
The 37th Season at SWS has Officially Launched (with lots of new snow)!
Message from Brenda Drury
Our 37th season is off to a great start, with happy guests experiencing great ski conditions and our always-friendly lodge atmosphere since they started arriving on December 26th. While many places in North America are having a lean winter, we have been fortunate to be enjoying consistent snowfalls on Meadow Mountain. Currently, we have a snow pack of nearly 2 meters!
As well, our chefs have been receiving rave reviews for some exciting new dishes they’ve served up so far in 2012, along with our crowd-pleasing classics. And, in keeping with our mission to provide you with locally sourced products, we are excited to present a signature BC Wine list this year from a selection of our province’s premium wineries.
It is always wonderful to catch up with our returning guests and to welcome new faces to the lodge. We wish you the best in these early months of 2012 and hope to see you in the near future!
All the best to you in 2012,
Meadow Mountain has been blessed with a deep early season snowpack that has allowed us to establish all of our snow roads on the mountain in record time, and run a very productive Guide’s Training Week. The snow has kept piling up, dumping over one metre (3.5ft) of powder since Christmas, bringing the snowpack depth close to two metres (almost seven feet)! Our first two weeks of guests have really enjoyed all this fresh snow, and we have had some great comments. It looks like El Nina is still hanging out on Meadow Mountain!
SWS + Sherpas Cinema = Partnership Made in Heavenly Powder
Could there be anything better than SWS and Sherpas Cinema teaming up to produce a cutting short promo film? From where we’re standing, probably not!
Following on the massive success of their full?length feature film “All I Can,” Sherpas Cinema has been retained by SWS to create a short film to help promote SWS to the global ski and snowboard community.
The upcoming film, written and directed by Dave Mossop and Eric Crosland, will be shot this winter at SWS and will star ski and snowboard athletes, as well as the ever?impressive SWS Guiding Team led by Jason Remple. Without giving too much away, the film will focus on what makes SWS truly the best snowcat operation in the world including some awe inspiring powder footage, and also finds the heart of why guests keep coming back year after year. The project is scheduled for a summer release, so stay tuned!
