SWS Runs of the day
Chuck Your Lunch
I wasn’t there when it was named, so I don’t know if it really happened, but it could. Chuck your lunch makes Allan’s list of top five favourite runs. It’s not hard to see why, being steep, gnarly and really important to stay on the line are key ingredients for “Adventures by Allan.” Chuck takes off from the top of Renegade Ridge and rolls down the north side. A short distance from the top, there is a regroup where instructions are given to keep people from unskiable cliff area (or is it AD?). Take steep and wild on the left or a little tamer to the right through an ancient burn to the top of the main event. At a perfect slope break (read small cliff) an infrequent avalanche path has torn a swathe through the old growth Engelmann Spruce and Subalpine Fir leaving sparse juvenile conifers and frequent lumps and bumps and a perfect ski run. On each flank, there are more challenging lines through the trees. Either way, get it before lunch if you can!
